Collaboration

Imec is a world player in R&D for ICT, with a strong expertise, a unique infrastructure, top researchers, and collaboration with important industrial players. Following the industry consolidation, we have extended our program offering and made it also attractive for the fablite and fabless companies.

In addition, we have broadened our research activities to new domains, such as healthcare. And we have started additional programs on energy. Our biggest differentiator in these domains is the combination of the knowledge we have gained, our excellent scientific results, and the patents that we have filed

Next to our work in R&D programs, we also want to be a solution provider, using our expertise and network to look for solutions for medium-term needs of companies. To do this successfully, the fact that we have an extensive patent portfolio is an important plus.

Last, Imec is a breeding ground for spin-off companies. Our 27 spin-offs to date make for a successful ecosystem with a lot of collaboration with Flemish companies, and with an important economic return to Flanders.
