The current financial, biodiversity, medical, mobility and carbon dioxide dilemmas, urge us to turn our focus to a new type of thinking, addressing a new type of research and development projects. These cross-border collaborative R&D projects, crossing the borders of many expertise disciplines, including sciences, engineering, arts, design and the social sciences, are crucial for the development of truly sustainable products and services. Imec works on a number of carefully selected opend-ended design and engineering projects on the crossroads of nanobio technologies, arts & design, healthcare and nature.
Our outreach efforts target 16-22y olds, empowering young, motivated students. Either we support the sustainable development projects originally set up by the youngsters. Or we give the students the opportunity to join imec's own projects by doing an internship.
