Electronics on foil (thin-film electronics)

Invent - Imec develops cheap, large area electronics on foil for use in, for example RFID tags. And imec examines the possibilities of plastic foils as substrate for organic thin-film transistors and organic diodes.
Achieve - Building on imec's breakthrough rectifier technology, Imec demonstrated a plastic 64-bit inductively coupled passive RFID tag. This RFID has been developed in collaboration with Holst Centre partner TNO and with Polymer Vision. The device approaches item-level tagging requirements. It paves the way for low-cost high-volume RFID tags to replace barcodes.
